Sealants Post Operative Instructions

Diet:

Avoid crunchy and sticky foods like popcorn, hard candy, ice and chewing gum for the rest of the day

Brushing:

Resume normal brushing and home care today

Bite:

Your bite may feel different. As the material wears off, this will subside over the next few days. If your bite still doesn’t feel right, please call our office.

Life Span:

Sealants generally last from two to five years, although in rare cares, a portion or all of the material may be lost before that time. Numerous factors may contribute to early loss, including poor eating habits and a cariogenic diet, tooth grinding, and enamel demineralization.

Should you lose your sealant, please call our office. If this happens, there is no harm to the tooth or risk to the patient. However, we will examine the tooth and replace or repair the sealant if needed.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call our office.
